For this project I had the pleasure to work with a friend to create this Zine. It was for one of her class assignments, where she had to create a machine with an input and an output. She decided she would give different artist a prompt, the input, and they would answer the prompt, thus creating the output.
The prompt: “Create something that analyzes isolation. How isolation & separation has made you, others, or society feel?…angry? sad? Independent? Confused? Use your project to comment on or portray your thoughts around the emotions in this last year.
I took this in a direction to how people’s lives have changed physically, mentally, and emotionally. These changes could have been purposeful or random.
My inspiration was Vogue and the luxury fashion spreads in Vogue.
This section is inspired by the many career changes that people have faced. Due to covid many people have lost their jobs and have had to find a new career path. Others may have decided that this is the perfect time to dip into the career they have always dreamed up. Maybe starting their own business or joining a new industry.
These pages go two ways. The first is that many people have decided to become active and to earn the body they’ve been dreaming off. On the other hand many people have gained weight during the past year because all they could do was sit on their couch.
With all the extra time on people’s hands and constantly being at home. They’re able to finally do the home renovation projects they have been talking about for years.
People have become more accustomed to lounging and relaxing, especially during the peak of quarantine. Loungewear has also flown off the shelves. Consumers are buying more sweat sets than they are buying jeans.
Lastly, many relationships have ended due to quarantine. Couple spending time together 24/7 has taken a huge toll on relationships.
