Morgue File
The Morgue File consists of key fashion trends over the course of seven decades. It starts with the Edwardian Era and ends with the 1960s. At the beginning of each section there is a brief summary about the decade. Moreover, each decade contains men and women’s fashion as well as the popular accessories during the time. There is a button located under each decade’s brief intro to view the decade in detail.
During the Victorian Era, women were seen as a symbol of wealth based on how many layers they were wearing.
The Edwardian Era is when pants were introduced for women. However, they were Harem pants, so they look more like a skirt than pants.
The roaring 20’s sparked a big change for women's clothing and accessories.
This was the decade where women’s clothing started to show their figure as well as having major lifestyle changes.
During this era, World War II had many effects on the economy and peoples lives. Women started to wear pants as they were working in the factories, while the men were off at war.
During the 1950s the silhouette that women would wear was reflected by their lifestyle. The feminine silhouette soon disappeared as the Sack Dress was introduced by Cristobal Balenciaga.
The 1960s was the largest turning point for women’s fashion as it started the civil rights era.
